RED SUN XMAS PARTY & PRESENTATION EVENING ST.JOHN'S CHURCH HALL HEWLETT STREET COPPULL FRIDAY 18TH DECEMBER, 2009
On Friday 18th Decemeber, it was time once again for our annual party and presentation evening. With a large number of students excelling throughout the year, the job of choosing the winners for the relevant awards was going to be tougher than ever. The first award of the evening was for the Best Attendance and is my personal favourite as it shows true dedication by the student to attend more training sessions than anyone else. With a clear lead, this award was presented to Callum Hesketh. The Most Improved award for 2009 went to Craig Donley after picking himself up from failing a grading earlier in the year to get back on the horse and impress in the second half of the year. With a number of new starters joing Red Sun in 2009, the Best Newcomer award was going to be a tough decision. However, after taking Gold at the Sale Kata competition only weeks after starting, Megan Winstanley edged out her nearest rivals to get the award for 2009. Along with the Best Attendance award, the Competitor of the Year award is one of two awards which are awarded purely on points. The more competitions entered and placed, the more points. Taking this award for the second year running was Jessica Hill after another fantastic year on the competition circuit. After only missing out on medals at two competitions in two years, one of which being an international event, the award could go to nobody else. The final and most important award of the year is the Student of the Year award. This award goes to the student who has shown full commitment throughout the year along with training regularly, entering competition and being a model student in the dojo. My choice for 2009 went to Callum Hesketh. BEST ATTENDANCE 2009 - CALLUM HESKETH MOST IMPROVED 2009 - CRAIG DONLEY BEST NEWCOMER 2009 - MEGAN WINSTANLEY COMPETITOR OF THE YEAR 2009 - JESSICA HILL STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2009 - CALLUM HESKETH
